Our Council
The new Shire of Northam is one of two of the most recent merged Councils in Western Australia between the Town of Northam and the Shire of Northam. The merger took place on the 1st July 2007. New Councillors were elected on 20 October 2007.
The Shire is divided into four wards, Town (5 Councillors), West (2 Councillors), Central (2 Councillors) and East (1 Councillor), thereby ensuring equal representation and enabling Council to work towards goals, strategies and outcomes that will benefit all residents and ratepayers.
Commencing on 2 July 2008 for a trial period of three months, Council will hold an Ordinary Meeting of Council every third Wednesday. All meetings will be held in the Shire of Northam Council Chambers commencing at 5:30pm. All meetings are open to the public.
During this period, Council will also trial Council Forums. The Forums will include all Councillors and Senior Staff and are also open to the public. Council Forums will be held on the Monday preceding the Ordinary Meeting of Council at 5:30pm in the Council Chambers.
The Shire of Northam Council Chambers are located at 395 Fitzgerald Street, Northam.
